THE HOLY DOOR

The author, Cardinal Virgilio Noè, a highly esteemed expert of liturgy with a long experience as a Master of Ceremonies, has edited this publication to point out that the Holy Door has its own story to hand down. The beginning of each Holy Year is marked by the opening of the Holy Door and for this reason this is the most important door in the Basilica. 

The text describes the symbology of the door and the story of the Popes who proclaimed the Holy Years, from Boniface VIII to John Paul II.
